The
Global Urban Trek broadens students’ vision of the gospel in the midst of global urban realities. Students join partners working in slum conditions in the world’s megacities to practice submission, fasting, intentional presence, lament and celebration. Students return to campus with deepened awareness of their personal gifting, socioeconomic and ethnic identities, skills in cross-cultural community building, conflict resolution, and a stronger ability to articulate God’s ongoing story in the world. Throughout the Trek, students discern whether to commit two years to living in urban poverty in order to explore a longer-term calling.
